Freshers day
The freshers day ‘ZYNEXA ‘26’ for the MCA students of PET Engineering College, Valliyoor was held with great enthusiasm. Addressing the students, Principal K. Madhan Kumar highlighted the scopes of studies related to computer applications. Secretary of the College S. Kaja Mohideen and other staff and students were present.
Awareness programme
Al-Madinah Public Senior Secondary School, Melapalayam hosted an awareness programme on social media usage. M.K.M. Syed Ahamed Kabeer, correspondent, S.K. Syed Ahamed, secretary presided over the programme. Sub Inspector of the Tirunelveli City Cyber Crime wing Swathika attended the programme as chief guest and addressed the students.
International seminar
The PG and Research Department of History of St. Mary’s College (autonomous), Thoothukudi in partnership with Faculty of Arts and Culture, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka has organised an international seminar on “Global Training Programme on Mixed Methods Research: Bridging Qualitative and Quantitative Paradigms.”
J. Benet Rajadurai, assistant professor of sociology, Sophia College for Women, Mumbai delivered a keynote address on the challenges and opportunities in research and publication. Sameem, senior lecturer in department of English Language Teaching, Faculty of Arts and Culture, South Eastern University, Sri Lanka; Vasudevan, founder and director of Integrated Institute of Disaster Management, Villupuram; and P. Dhivaagar, Tamil Nadu Tribal Research Fellow, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore served as resource persons for the various sessions.
The sessions focused on the need for qualitative, quantitative and mixed method approaches.
Inauguration of ISHRAE student chapter
The inauguration of the ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) NEC students chapter for the academic year 2026-2027, organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of National Engineering College, Kovilpatti was held at the College campus.
A.Velmurugan, former president and Installation Officer of the ISHRAE Madurai chapter attended the event as chief guest and inaugurated the student chapter. In his address, he highlighted the latest technologies and development in Heating, Ventilation, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
K.A. Kaja Mohideen, director of ISHRAE, Madurai chapter and S. Mayakumar, technical chair of ISHRAE, Madurai chapter attended the programme as guest of honour. They elaborated on the objectives and benefits of ISHRAE and highlighted various training programmes, technical competitions, industry exposure and professional development opportunities available to student members.
Career guidance programme
The Department of Science and Humanities of National Engineering College, Kovilpatti organised a career guidance programme for the first year engineering students on the theme “Campus to Career: Shaping Your Four-Year Journey.”
Career guidance expert and analyst Ashwin attended the event as special guest and addressed the students. He highlighted the importance of developing English communication skills, aptitude, logical thinking, problem solving abilities, programming skills and technical skills from the forest year onwards.
Sports day
The sports day event for the kindergarten children of Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Tirunelveli was held with great zeal and enthusiasm. Mohamed Aadil, psychologist attended the event as chief guest. In his address he highlighted the role of parents in nurturing resilience, helping children face setbacks with confidence, appreciate what they have and actively participate in their educational journey. Maragathavalli, correspondent, Pushpalata Pooranan, senior principal and other staff were present.
