Madurai City Police have planned to divert vehicular traffic away from Vaigai River South Bank Road from Monday night to facilitate construction of the new bridge across Vaigai river as part of the flyover in Goripalayam junction.
Vehicular traffic on Vaigai River South Bank Road between Obulapadithurai bridge junction up to MGR Bridge junction (via Yanaikkal causeway) and between Yanaikkal causeway junction and Obulapadithurai junction would be prohibited.
TNSTC and private buses coming from Mattuthavani bus stand and proceeding towards Simmakkal should go via K.K. Nagar Arch, Periyar statue junction, Goripalayam and A.V. Bridge.
Vehicles proceeding from Obulapadithurai bridge junction towards Yanaikkal causeway and MGR Bridge should go via Munichalai Main Road or through Vaigai River North Bank Road.
The statement said that vehicles proceeding from MGR junction towards Obulapadithurai should go via Vaigai River North Bank Road or via Yanaikkal causeway, Yanaikkal and Nelpettai.
Meanwhile, the police have implemented another diversion in the city to enable construction work of the flyover at Panangal Road in Goripalayam junction, from Sunday.
The vehicles coming from Sellur and Palam Station Road should take a slight diversion on the right side from F.F. Road junction and go around the Muthuramalinga Thevar statue junction to reach Panangal Road.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Tamukkam junction should go around the Muthuramalinga Thevar statue junction to reach Panangal Road.
