Two arrested with MDMA worth ₹2 lakh in Shabad, police uncover Bengaluru supply link

Two persons were arrested with 13.97 grams of MDMA worth approximately ₹2 lakh in Shabad. The Future City police uncovered a suspected drug supply network targeting students and software employees in Mokila, Kokapet and Nanakramguda areas.

The accused were identified as Maram Vamshi Reddy, 23, and Beera Praveen Kumar, 28, both residents of Indira Reddy Nagar Colony in Mirzaguda, Shankarpally mandal of Rangareddy district.

Acting on credible information, the Chevella Zone Special Operations Team (SOT) of the Future City Police Commissionerate, along with the Shabad police, intercepted the duo near T-Time at Nagarkunta Crossroads in Shabad on Friday (October 9).

According to the police, preliminary questioning revealed that the accused had purchased approximately 14 grams of MDMA from a supplier identified as Stephen in Bengaluru for ₹42,000, at ₹3,000 per gram.

Investigators said the duo intended to sell the drugs at higher prices to students and software professionals in Mokila, Kokapet and Nanakramguda to make profits.

The police seized 13.97 grams of MDMA, two Redmi mobile phones and a Kechadda keypad mobile phone. The seizure was documented in the presence of witnesses with assistance from the Clues Team.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Chevella Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Yogesh Gautam.

Shabad Station House Officer (SHO) D.K. Laxmi Reddy said a case was registered under Section 8(c) read with Section 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Meanwhile, investigators are tracing Stephen, the suspected Bengaluru-based supplier, to establish the source of the contraband and determine whether others were involved in the distribution network.

Further investigation is underway.
