Two held for storing firecrackers in godown without licence; three more at large

In a swift operation, a team of revenue officials seized firecrackers and chemicals illegally stored in a private godown situated on the Rajapalayam-Madurai Road on Saturday.

Following a tip-off, the officials rounded up the godown and checks revealed that Johnson Samuel of Satchiapuram, Sivakasi and Sridar of Pudupatti were engaged in making chakras and other crackers without any licence. They had also stocked huge bundles of finished crackers, which were seized.

Rajapalayam North police station inspector Valarmathi registered a case. Three more suspects involved in the crime were at large. A hunt was on to secure them, police said.
