Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath has said that policing will become more efficient and vigilant with the deployment of drone cameras.
Speaking after receiving two state-of-the-art drone cameras donated by the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) on Wednesday, he said that the drones would be deployed to control crime, curb anti-social activities and regulate traffic. The cameras worth ₹3 lakh were donated under UCIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.
Mr. Nachiket emphasised the crucial role of technology-driven policing to curb offences such as chain snatching, eve-teasing, to prevent road accidents, thefts and anti-social activities.
“VIP security arrangements, traffic regulation at key junctions and surveillance in sensitive areas will also become more fool-proof with drone cameras”, he added.
The two advanced drones were handed by UCIL’s general manager Suman Sarkar to Deputy Superintendent (Pulivendula) B. Murali for use within his jurisdiction.
