Robotic surgery offers unparalleled advantages, including greater precision, 3D magnified vision, minimal blood loss, smaller incisions and less pain, said Vaddi Chandra Mohan, Head, Department of Urology and Managing Director of Preeti Urology and Kidney Hospitals, Hyderabad, here on Thursday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the state-of-the-art surgical robot at Vadamalayan Hospitals, he said that robotic surgery also ensured faster recovery and shorter stays in hospital.

Sharing his experience of using the robot from SSI, the noted urologist said that it would be handy across specialities, including cardiothoracic, urology, gynaecology, gastrointestinal surgery, oncology and general surgery.

Vadamalayan Hospital Chairman and Managing Director V. Pugalagiri, in his welcome address, said that for nearly seven decades, the hospital had been at the forefront of adapting cutting-edge medical technology. “It is truly the future of surgery with a human touch,” he added.

The hospital Joint Managing Director, Chandra Pugalgiri, said that the launch of the surgical robot marked a new era in precision surgery for southern Tamil Nadu. The system embodies advanced, affordable and accessible robotic surgery, bringing world-class technology closer to the people of Madurai.

The SS Innovations vice-president, Srinivasa Reddy, offered felicitations. Hospital Medical Director V. Pappunathan, Cardio Thoracic Surgeon P. Babu, surgical oncologist S. Alagu Ganesh, surgical gastroenterologist N. R. Venkatesh and other senior doctors attended. Director, Medical Services, S. Sundararajan, proposed a vote of thanks.
