A person snatched a gold chain from a woman in Salem on Wednesday night. A. Sathyamma (55), a resident of Anthonypuram, ran a petty shop opposite Salem Junction Railway Station. On Wednesday night, as she was closing the shop, a person came to the shop and bought a bottle of water. Upon receiving the bottle, the person pretended to be paying via UPI but suddenly snatched her three-sovereign chain and fled on a motorcycle. On her complaint, the Sooramangalam police registered a case and are checking CCTV camera footage in the locality.
