As India moves towards becoming one of the world’s leading economies, the social character of its younger generation bolsters its economic strength, said A. Sakthivel, chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council.

“I have spent decades working with young entrepreneurs across India’s apparel industry. Their energy and determination convince me that India’s future is in capable hands. What they need is stronger guidance, better role models and a deeper connection with India’s culture and civilisational values,” he said.

The current young generation is growing up in a more connected and influential India than ever before. They are better educated, globally connected, and technologically empowered, and are shaping the country’s future.

A healthy democracy also depends on young people asking difficult questions. Democracies grow stronger through robust debate.

Technology has advanced faster than man’s ability to develop patience, empathy and restraint. Digital literacy has progressed rapidly, but emotional literacy has not always kept pace.

“In my professional journey spanning more than 43 years, I have worked closely with the Government of India, State governments, senior bureaucrats, policymakers, exporters and trade bodies around the world. I have strengthened partnerships because of values and reinforced my belief that lasting influence comes from character, consistency and mutual respect.”
