Ashish Sood slams former AAP government over mismanagement of night shelters

Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection at five night shelters in south-east Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan. Pointing out at the serious lapses in the functioning of the night shelters, the Minister criticised previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, alleging mismanagement and rampant corruption.

Claiming that no attendance registers were found during his visit, Mr. Sood alleged that the management staff at the shelters were forcing “homeless” labourer to work as cleaners for paltry sums of ₹5,000 or ₹6,000, while the government was falsely billed for the labourers’ services.

He warned that stern action would be taken against those responsible.
