In all, 12 houses were partially damaged owing to rains and wind in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the office of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner, of seven houses damaged in the district four were in Byndoor taluk, two in Kaup taluk, and one in Karkala taluk. The district recorded 75.1 mm rainfall during the period.
A huge tree fell on Malpe-Tirthahalli NH 169A at Seethanadi near Hebri in Udupi district. It brought down five electricity poles and a transformer thereby disrupting vehicular movement till 9 a.m.
Of five house damaged in Dakshina Kannada, four were in Bantwal taluk and one in Moodbidri taluk, according to the District Disaster Management Authority.

Mescom’s 37 electricity poles were damaged and 8.53 km of rural roads were damaged.
The district recorded 37.5 mm rainfall against the actual rainfall of 38.2 mm for the period, the authority said.
There was a minor landslip at Bhandaribettu, near B.C. Road on Bantwal-Belthangady NH 73, in the noon. A two-wheeler driver identified as Ravi suffered minor injuries. Bantwal Town Municipality workers cleared the debris later.
Reports said that a footbridge collapsed at Nadyelu under Kadeshwalya village in Bantwal taluk.
The India Meteorological Department in its weather forecast said that heavy rains with sustained wind (30 to 40 kmph) are likely to occur at a few places over Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi districts from Sunday to July 9.
