15 take ill after having adulterated toddy

At least 15 people fell ill in the Hydernagar area of Kukatpally on Tuesday after allegedly consuming adulterated toddy. One of them is said to be critical.

Preliminary findings suggest that the toddy was laced with a cocktail of sedatives, including alprazolam, hydrochloride, and diazepam. The affected people were rushed to a local hospital with symptoms of diarrhoea, low blood pressure, and dizziness.

Excise officials from the Medchal Malkajgiri zone have launched an investigation.
