The Golconda police on Sunday apprehended a habitual offender in connection with a house burglary reported in Naya Qila, Golconda.
The accused, Mohammed Mujahid Qureshi alias Javeed, 31, a resident of Kattelmandi, who worked in tin shed construction was arrested at Jamali Darwaza. The police recovered the stolen ₹70,000 in cash, a mobile phone, an iron rod measuring 44.5 cm, two hand gloves and a black face mask from his possession.
The arrest follows a complaint by Ameer Khatoon stating that an unidentified individual broke into the house, forcing open the locks and decamping with ₹70,000 in cash, a gold ring and a pair of gold earrings, together worth approximately ₹80,000.
Investigation revealed that Qureshi is a repeat offender with a history of involvement in at least six criminal cases across Hyderabad and Maharashtra. His previous offences include two burglary cases under the Golconda police station, a robbery case under Saifabad police station and two theft cases in Moghulpura in 2018. Additionally, he was booked by the Shivaji Nagar police in Maharashtra in 2019 in connection with a murder case, along with associates Javeed and Iqbal.
Further investigation is underway.
