H Vinoth to direct Dhanush after ‘Jana Nayagan’? Composer Sam CS’ tweet goes viral

There have been speculations that filmmaker H Vinoth, who is currently helming Vijay’s swan song film Jana Nayagan, is set to team up with actor Dhanush for his next. Now, on Monday (July 7), a tweet from music composer Sam CS has further added to the speculations, with many netizens taking it as an official confirmation of the project.

On Monday, an X user’s tweet claimed the project is officially in the making, and that the rumours of Vinoth pitching a script to superstar Rajinikanth are false. “This collaboration” — between Dhanush and Vinoth — “was originally meant to happen before #Jananayagan But H.vinoth got offer to direct #ThalapathyVijay’s final film, Dhanush respectfully stepped aside, recognizing the importance of that moment in Vijay’s journey and giving H.Vinoth the space to take it up, (sic)“ read the post, adding that the film will start immediately after the release of Jana Nayagan.

The tweet further stated that the film will be produced by Lalit Kumar under his 7 Screen Studios banner and that Sam will compose the music. In mere minutes after the post was published, Sam retweeted the post with ‘high-five’ and ‘fire’ emojis, seemingly confirming that the details mentioned in the post are true.

Notably, in an earlier interview with Kumudam, editor Pradeep E Ragav mentioned that producer Lalit had called him regarding this project. “I’ve always wanted to work with H Vinoth, so I immediately agreed. I signed the contract and took the advance as well,” said Pradeep.

These developments have certainly added to the buzz surrounding this collaboration. Vinoth, who made his debut with 2014’s acclaimed Sathuranga Vettai, turned heads with his sophomore effort, the blockbuster Karthi-starrerTheeran Adhigaaram Ondru. He went on to direct superstar Ajith Kumar in three films — Nerkonda Paarvai, Valimaiand Thunivu— and is now helming superstar Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan. It is to be noted that Vinoth was set to direct Kamal Haasan in a project, then tentatively called KH233; however, news reports now state that the project has been dropped.

Dhanush, on the other hand, was recently seen in Kuberaa, co-starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna. The actor has Idly Kadai, co-starring Nithya Menen, Tere Ishq Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai, a film with Amaran-maker Rajkumar Periasamy, a film with Por Thozhil director Vignesh Raja, a biopic on the former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and D56 with director Mari Selvaraj in various stages of production.
