Panic gripped the City Civil Court at Purani Haveli in Hyderabad on Tuesday (July 8, 2025) morning after an email claiming that four RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted on the premises was received by the Chief Judge. The anonymous threat triggered a security response.
The email, received at 3:43 am, claimed that the bombs were strategically placed in the Judge’s chambers and other parts of the Civil Court complex. .
The Court proceedings were halted for the day as the police initiated a full evacuation of the premises after the Mirchowk police was informed about the email. According to Mirchowk assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Venkateshwar Rao, three teams from the bomb disposal squad along with personnel from the police reached the location and began a thorough search of the premises. Sniffer dogs and advanced detection equipment were deployed to rule out any threat.
The officer confirmed that a search operation was underway and the premises had been secured. “The email was brought to our attention around 10.30 a.m.. We have vacated the area and deployed bomb squads for inspection. No suspicious items have been found so far,” he said. An investigation is also underway to trace the origin of the email.
