
Avadi Police Commissioner K. Shankar handing over the recovered jewellery to the original owners on Wednesday
The Avadi City Police on Wednesday handed over the recovered stolen properties worth Rs 18 crore to the original owners.
Police also displayed the recovered properties at SM Nagar Police Convention Centre in Thirumullaivoyal. These properties related to cases in 28 police stations in Avadi City Police limits and units of the Central Crime Branch. Avadi City Police Commissioner K.Shankar personally handed over to the original owners in the presence of other officers.
Mr. Shankar said, “We have recovered and returned various properties which were either stolen or fraudulently obtained by the culprits in various cases of police stations. The properties included 922 kilos of silver, 87 sovereign gold jewellery, 317 mobile phones and cash altogether Rs 11 crore. Other than this, about Rs 7 crore worth of properties, mainly lands, were also recovered in various cases by the Central Crime Branch and given back to the complainants.”
The recovered properties included 90 air conditioners, 6050 pairs of footwear, and multiple two-wheelers.
“Similarly our Cyber Crime team recovered Rs 57 lakh which was lost by complainants in cyber frauds. We are taking various awareness camps on cyber frauds to make people aware and to be vigilant,” said Mr. Shankar.
