Lavish Ordia, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat, has clarified that the three deaths in Tippanatagi village in Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district in Karnataka were the result of prolonged ailments, and not by consuming contaminated water.

On July 9, Mr Ordia said that some sections of the media reported that people died after consuming contaminated water. “An inspection has been conducted by the Health Department after the deaths. The report says that the deaths happened due to prolonged illness, and not by consuming water,” he added.

He further said that necessary examinations were conducted on the water, which is supplied to villagers, and it was found to be potable.

All precautionary measures, including setting up a health camp, have been taken in the village, he said.

Several people fell sick after consuming alleged ‘contaminated’ water. After the incident, medical officers, and also Mr. Ordia, visited the village and provided treatment.
