The School Education Department in Coimbatore on Monday ordered the transfer of five teachers of a government school in Kinathukadavu block, including two who have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, until further notice.

The transfers follow allegations by three girl students, who accused a music teacher and a botany teacher of inappropriate touching. The allegations came to light on Friday after masked videos of the students circulated online.

The district police registered a case against the two teachers on Sunday. The School Education Department and the District Child Protection Unit conducted separate inquiries. Based on a complaint from the DCPU, the accused teachers were booked under Sections 7 and 8 of the POCSO Act. On Monday, the five teachers, including the two booked, were transferred to other government schools until further notice.
