More than 500 crore women passengers across the State have availed free bus travel under the Shakti scheme so far, according to officials at the government-organised exhibition held at Chamarajanagar on Thursday.

The three-day exhibition, which highlights the Karnataka government’s development achievements and the successful implementation of its five guarantee schemes, aims to inform the public about the benefits of these initiatives.

The expo was by Chamarajanagar MLA C. Puttarangashetty at the KSRTC bus stand and has been organised by the State Department of Information and Public Relations.

Mr. Puttarangashetty said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar have fulfilled their promises to the people by effectively implementing the five guarantee schemes — Shakti, Gruha Lakshmi, Anna Bhagya, Gruha Jyothi, and Yuva Nidhi – and described them as people-centric and essential for the welfare of the State.

The exhibition is being held to mark the completion of two years of the government and showcases other achievements as well. The MLA said it is also an attempt to inform the public about the progress pertaining to other development projects. “Every citizen should be made aware of the schemes and accomplishments of the government,” he said.

District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee president H.V. Chandru said the district ranked first in the State in terms of implementing the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. He urged the public to visit the exhibition and understand the scale and impact of the government’s programs.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Mona Roat, along with committee members, senior officials, and representatives from KSRTC and the Information Department, were among those present.
