A Sub-Inspector of Police posted at the Women Police Station in Gachibowli, Cyberabad, was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000.

A Sub-Inspector of Police posted at the Women Police Station in Gachibowli, Cyberabad, was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, identified as K.Y. Venu Gopal, demanded and received the bribe from a complainant in exchange for removing the name of the complainant’s mother from a case. The accused officer was arrested by the City Range-1 unit of the ACB after accepting the cash.

Officials confirmed that the bribe amount was recovered from him. Venu Gopal was sent to judicial remand as the investigation continues.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has urged citizens to report any similar demands for bribes by public servants. Complaints can be made via the ACB’s toll-free number 1064 or through their social media channels on WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @TelanganaACB. The ACB has assured that the identity of the complainant will be kept confidential.
