Minor disruption in electric supply halts train movement near Manamadurai

As electric wires were disrupted at a railway crossing near Manamadurai here on Friday evening, train movements on the route was halted for more than a hour. 

As a train going from Tiruchi to Virudhunagar reached Kalkurichi, the railway gates on either side of a railway crossing near Anna Salai were closed. A lorry which attempted to rush through the space before the gate was closed dashed against it.  

In the impact, the gate touched the electric wire above. Subsequently, the electric connection in the area got disrupted.  

Due to this, the train was stopped at Kalkurichi for about an hour. Also, a Rameswaram-Chennai train was stopped at Manamadurai railway station for about an hour.  

After the railway workers rectified the wires, the train movement resumed.
