Union Cabinet approves Employment Linked Incentive scheme

The Union Government Cabinet has approved the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme to provide benefits to the newly registering employees with less than 1 lakh wages and the employers, provided they register and retain the employees for at least 6 months. The scheme aims to create 3.5 crore jobs with a budget of ₹99.45 crore over a period of two years from August 2025 to July 2027. While the new employees can earn benefit up to ₹15,000 in two instalments, spread over one one year, the employers would earn ₹3,000 per month for two years (four years for manufacturing sectors), Debi Prasad Bhattacharya, Regional PF Commissioner-I said in a press release on Friday. The benefits will be paid through DBT in Aadhaar/PAN linked bank accounts, he added.
