A four-and-a-half-year-old boy died after he reportedly fell into a pit dug up by the Rural Water Supply (RWS) authorities for repairing a valve of the drinking water pipeline at Srirampuram village of Rajamahendravaram rural. The incident occurred on Friday (July 11, 2025).Â
The RWS authorities have dug up a pit for the repair of the valve. However, the repair work has been postponed after the pit was filled up due to rain.
East Godavari District Collector P. Prasanthi, who inspected the site, has stated; âKadamanchi Srinu had fallen into the pit while he was playing and died on the spotâ. According to Ms. Prasanthi, the State government had announced âč5 lakh ex-gratia to the family of the deceased.
