Tension erupted at the Medipally office of MLC Chintapandu Naveen Kumar, popularly known as Teenmaar Mallanna, on Sunday (July 13, 2025) afternoon after his security personnel allegedly opened fire during a protest led by individuals claiming to be members of Telangana Jagruthi.

The group stormed his news channel office to condemn his derogatory remarks on BRS MLC K. Kavitha targeting her with ‘abusive and objectionable comments’ on the issue of Backward Caste (BC) reservations.

The situation spiralled into chaos around noon when the group forced their way into the premises. A scuffle broke out as Mr. Mallanna’s gunmen tried to push them out, during which several rounds were fired into the air inside the office.

While initial reports suggested one person had sustained bullet injuries, Rachakonda police officials later clarified that no one had been shot. “The injuries seen in the videos were not caused by bullets. His gunmen opened fire in the air in self-defence after Telangana Jagruthi members reached the premises. The blood visible was due to cuts from broken glass structures during the commotion,” a senior officer said.

Videos from the scene show bloodied floors and shattered furniture strewn across the office, capturing the intensity of the confrontation.

Police arrived soon after the firing and have launched an investigation. Further details are awaited.

Mr. Mallanna was elected to the Legislative Council from the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduates’ constituency in June 2024, reportedly with the Congress party’s support. However, he was suspended from the party in March 2025 for anti-party activities, following his public criticism of the government’s caste survey and his controversial act of tearing the caste census report on air.

The Telangana Jagruthi leaders claimed that Mr. Mallanna’s comments were outrageous and highly insulting to women. They said a case should be filed against him for outraging the modesty of a woman and the Youtuber should be taught a lesson that no one dares to use such words against women.
