‘Chiyaan 64’: Vikram teams up with filmmaker Prem Kumar for his next

Tamil superstar Vikram has teamed up with filmmaker Prem Kumar of 96 and Meiyazhagan fame for his next. Tentatively called Chiyaan 64, the film will be produced by Ishari K Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner.

The production banner shared pictures of Vikram, Prem, Ganesh and Kushmitha Ganesh to announce the news.

Details regarding the film’s genre, plot and the cast and crew remain unknown at the moment. Interestingly, Prem Kumar, known for making light-hearted films, had revealed in a recent interview that he has a violence-heavy action script, which has now created buzz among fans of Vikram who are speculating if Chiyaan 64 is based on that script.

Vikram is coming off the success of Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, directed by SU Arun Kumar. The actor has teamed up with Mandela and Maaveeran director Madonne Ashwin for his 63rd film.

Prem, on the other hand, last helmed the critically acclaimed Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swamy. Though initially panned by audiences for its unconventional storytelling, rave reviews and good word-of-mouth helped the film tremendously. The film did exceptionally well after its premiere on Netflix, drawing attention even from all over the nation. Interestingly, Prem had recently stated that he has finished writing the sequel of 96, his acclaimed 2018 debut film.
