The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for four Telangana districts and a thunderstorm alert for 22 others for Thursday (July 17, 2025).
According to the IMD’s latest weather bulletin, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Nalgonda, Suryapet, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy. In addition, strong surface winds are likely to sweep through all 33 districts of Telangana, raising concerns of potential disruption of life.
The isolated places in 22 districts which are under thunderstorm alert are Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. Isolated spells of lightning, gusty winds, and brief showers are anticipated there.
Weather in Hyderabad and surrounding areas
Cloudy sky will envelope Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours. “Light rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds are likely to occur in parts of the city towards evening or night. Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34°C and 24°C, respectively,” as per the bulletin.
