Over 700 litres of illicit toddy were seized and multiple arrests were made as State Task Force (STF) of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department carried out raids across the State on Wednesday targeting unauthorised depots and illegal transport of toddy.
The biggest operations were conducted in Dhoolpet, where three separate seizures led to the confiscation and destruction of toddy being sold or stored without official permission.
In Nallakunta, 70 litres of toddy was being illegally transported on a two-wheeler. The accused, identified as Mallappa, was arrested and a case was also booked against one S. Basavaraj.
In Mangalhat, 247 litres of unauthorised toddy was dumped. One B. Anil Goud was taken into custody, and proceedings were initiated against another accused, Ramachandaiah.
Meanwhile, in Gudimalkapur’s Hiranagar area, authorities discovered 382 litres stored at an illegal depot. One Goda Raghavendra Goud was arrested, and a case was filed against one Ramakrishna Goud.
All three cases have been handed over to the Dhoolpet excise station.
The crackdown comes in the wake of growing concern over the sale of adulterated toddy, particularly after the Kukatpally incident which left several residents hospitalised.
Raids were carried out in Serlingampally, Hydernagar and BNR Nagar. Samples of toddy were collected at multiple locations for testing and further investigation.
