In a record and a first time, the famous Sri Dhandayuthapani Temple in Palani received 5,005 grams of gold as offerings made by devotees here on Thursday.
According to HR&CE officials, this was the highest in the history of the temple. They said, on Nov 21, 2016, when the hundial was opened, the offerings stood at 2,130 grams of gold and on Dec 3, 2014, it was 1,546 grams of gold.
The officials, who had opened the hundial on July 17 (Thursday), said that the offerings stood at 5005 grams of gold, the highest till date, the silver weighed 11,438 grams and there were 1,324 foreign currencies.
