A man was apprehended by the Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) on Friday for allegedly adulterating milk with hydrogen peroxide and skimmed milk powder at a makeshift milk centre in Sai Mahadeva Nagar, Parvathapur, under the limits of Medipally police station.
The accused, identified as Gangalapudi Muralikrishna Reddy, 50, was found mixing hydrogen peroxide and skimmed milk powder into milk before packing and distributing it locally.
Officials seized 110 litres of adulterated milk, 1.1 litres of hydrogen peroxide, 19 one-kilogram packets of skimmed milk powder, and 50 packed adulterated milk packets from the premises. The entire stock, along with the accused, was handed over to Medipally police for further action.
“He appears to have been selling the adulterated milk directly to residents in the area. He claims it was packed and sold as a small-scale operation, but we are verifying how far his supply chain goes,” a police officer from the SOT team said.
The investigation is underway to determine whether the adulterated milk was distributed beyond the locality.
