Two history sheeters were arrested by Bagayam police in Vellore on Sunday for threatening a police constable at the Central Prison here.
The arrested persons were identified as K. Udayakumar (38) and his friend V. Ramu (42). They are natives of Odugathur village in Vellore. Initial inquiry revealed that they were involved in several petty criminal activities and were released from prison recently.
As they were walking near the Central Prison, police said that the duo saw B. Thangamagaraja (28), a police constable on duty at the prison’s entrance and got into an argument with him. Suddenly, the duo took out knives and threatened the constable with dire consequences and fled the spot.
Based on a complaint, Bagayam police nabbed the duo from their hideout and lodged them at the Central Prison. A probe is under way.
