Kerala government declares holiday on July 22, three days’ mourning to honour V.S. Achuthanandan

July 22 (Tuesday) will be a holiday as a mark of respect to Communist veteran and former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan who passed away on Monday (July 21), the Kerala government has said.

The holiday will be applicable to State government offices, educational institutions including professional colleges, State public sector undertakings, statutory bodies, autonomous institutions and all institutions coming under the Negotiable Instruments Act. The government has also declared State mourning for three days from Tuesday. The national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government buildings during this period, the General Administration department said in a notification.
