
The Mangaluru City police collected over ₹48 lakh in fines between January and August 2025, for unauthorised use of tint.

The city traffic police have collected pending fines of over ₹69 lakh in 14 days from August 23, when a 50% rebate on the overall fine came into effect. This rebate will be offered for payments made up to September 12. The total traffic fine collected from January to August this year amounts to over ₹5 crore.
Between August 23 and September 5, the traffic police collected a total fine of ₹69.78 lakh. On August 23, a fine of ₹6.42 lakh was collected with respect to 2,473 cases on the first day. It went down to ₹2.64 lakh on August 24 and rose to ₹7.64 lakh on August 25. As much as ₹5.9 lakh was paid on August 30, and ₹6.5 lakh on September 1.
As much as ₹5.29 lakh was paid on September 2, followed by ₹5.6 lakh on September 3, and ₹6.17 lakh on September 4. An amount of ₹4.9 lakh was collected on September 5.
Till August this year, the city police have collected traffic fines of ₹5.09 crore. The highest of ₹1.47 crore was for other traffic offences, while ₹1.45 crore was for the rider/pillion rider riding without a helmet. As much as ₹48.43 lakh was collected for unauthorised use of tint, ₹31.81 lakh for driving without a seat belt, ₹28.57 lakh for ‘No Entry’, ₹ 27.98 lakh for carrying excess passengers, ₹26.84 lakh for wrong parking, ₹18.39 lakh for drink-and-drive and ₹11.6 lakh for defective registration plates.
As much as ₹7.98 lakh was collected for reckless driving, ₹6.06 lakh for using a mobile phone while driving, ₹4.95 lakh for triple riding, ₹2.98 lakh for using shrill horns, and ₹1.5 lakh for speeding.
Traffic fines can be paid at the four traffic police stations and at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic). A fine can also be paid by visiting the Mangaluru City Corporation Command and Control Centre located in the MCC office in Lalbagh.
If e-challan has come by post, people can pay the fine by visiting the websites of Mangalore One or Karnataka One. It can also be paid at any post office in the state. If the e-challan has come in the form of SMS, people can make payment in offline mode by visiting the traffic police stations, the police said in a press release.
Pending traffic fine can also be paid in courts till September 12 to take benefit of Government’s 50% rebate scheme.
