Tirupati is all set to host the All India conference on parliamentary/legislative committees on ‘Empowerment of Women’ on September 14 and 15. The event will be attended by public representatives from across the country.
At a preparatory meet held in the city on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu and the Deputy Speaker R. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju called it a rare privilege for the State, and more particularly Tirupati, to play host to the event.
The members of the panel will discuss the issues pertaining to women legislators and parliamentarians. The recommendations will later be sent to the respective Speakers as well as the government. It may be recalled that Mumbai had recently hosted the nationwide meeting of the members of Parliamentary Committee on Estimates and the Committee on SC/ST Welfare.
“The parliamentarians and legislators attending the meeting will be taken on a tour to Srikalahasti, Sri City and Sriharikota”, Mr. Patrudu said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Raju said that apart from the 31 members of the parliamentary panel, six panel members from each of the 31 State Legislative Assemblies would attend the meet.
Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps Anagani Satya Prasad, who is also the district in-charge Minister, offered to make all arrangements ahead of the prestigious event and asked the Collector S. Venkateswar to leave no stone unturned for the successful conduct of the two-day meeting.
MLAs Arani Srinivasulu (Tirupati), Bojjala Sudhir Reddy (Srikalahasti), Nelavala Vijayasri (Sullurpeta), trainee Collector Sandeep Raghuvanshi, District Revenue Officer M. Narasimhulu and Gudur Sub-Collector Raghavendra Meena were among the participants.
