Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) on Wednesday announced that the annual 46th Ganesh festivities in the twin cities will begin with the idol installation on August 27 and will culminate with the grand immersion ceremony on September 6.
Samithi president G. Raghava Reddy and secretary R. Shashidhar told mediapersons after the inauguration of the central hub office at the Baheti Bhavan in Siddiambar Bazar that the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 125th birth anniversary of Shyam Prasad Mukherjee and 100th year celebration of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will also be observed during the period.
The BGUS said the festivities generate a revenue of more than ₹5,000 crore and has requested all the pandal organisers as well as devotees to use only indigenous products during the period with the ‘Swadeshi Jagran Manch’ to spread awareness.
The samithi said it is aiming for smooth and peaceful conduct of the festival. To achieve this, they will coordinate with various government departments such as the police, municipal authorities, power department and others to help pandal organisers obtain necessary permissions, implement safety measures and ensure civic amenities are in place.
