‘112 NKS health camps helped more than 1 lakh persons’

A total of 112 camps have been held under the Nammai Kaakkum Stalin (NKS) Scheme as of last week, benefitting 1,48,290 persons, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said on Saturday.

The Minister inspected the medical camp organised in the Manali zone of the Greater Chennai Corporation, marking the fourth round of the NKS camps.

NKS camps, which were launched on August 2, are held every Saturday. A total of 38 camps were held on the first Saturday, covering 44,795 beneficiaries, while 36 camps were held on the following Saturday, reaching out to 48,418 persons. The third Saturday saw 55,077 persons being covered through 38 camps.

A total of 17 speciality services, including cardiology, orthopaedics, neurology, ophthalmology, and ENT were offered at these camps.

Additionally, certificates for persons with disabilities and Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme cards were also distributed.

He said that through the Unorganised Workers Welfare Board, workers were brought to the camps for screening and necessary treatment, according to a press release.
