Former Deputy Chief Minister and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) chief Dushyant Chautala on Wednesday hit out at Haryana’s ruling BJP government, saying that law and order has collapsed under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s watch. Mr. Saini holds the Home portfolio.

The JJP chief made the remark after submitting a memorandum to Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Arora in connection with the recent firing at the vehicle of party leader and Haryanvi rapper Rahul Fazilpuria. On the night of July 14, two shots were fired at Mr. Fazilpuria’s car in Gurugram. The rapper had escaped unhurt.

The JJP chief said that Mr. Saini appears to have “no control over the police”, adding that the situation was slightly better before the CM took over the reins of the State.

Mr. Chautala said last month he urged the Police Commissioner to reinstate security to Mr. Fazilpuria after two security guards provided to him were withdrawn. But no action was taken leading to the firing incident, he added.

Such incidents have been constantly happening in the State, and the head of JJP’s business cell, Ravindra, was shot dead in full public view in Hansi recently, said Mr. Chautala.

“Ravindra was constantly receiving threats, and the accused was granted bail even after the matter was brought to the knowledge of the police. The victim’s family also met the Chief Minister and pleaded for justice, but no action has been taken so far,” said Mr. Chautala.
