For canal irrigation, water discharge reduced to 400 cusecs from 500 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Jal Shakti issued warning on Friday evening. The Ministry said that in the view of water release from KRS and Kabini Dams and heavy rainfall in the upper catchment area of the Cauvery in Karnataka and Kerala, the combined inflow of about 29,000 cusecs was expected to reach Mettur dam by Saturday evening. Suitable precautionary measures should be taken and downstream areas be informed/alerted in case of release from Mettur dam, the release said.
