The Telangana High Court, on Friday, issued a notice to the State government in a writ petition filed by a pregnant housewife from Adilabad alleging that her husband was being implicated in false cases for bringing to the fore ‘transport mafia’ indulging in illegal cattle sale.

Principal Home Secretary and Director General of Police, along with Adilabad SP, DSP and Central Crime Station House Officer, were among the officers to whom notices were issued.

Justice T. Vinod Kumar permitted petitioner Swathi Shinde’s counsel to take out personal notice to Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan, who was arrayed as Eo Nominee in the writ petition.

According to the petitioner, her husband Rohit Shinde had been alerting the district police about illegal cattle transporters for quite some time since he had crucial details about them. She claimed that her husband had ‘material’ to substantiate the ‘ongoing nexus between the law enforcement personnel and offenders involved in cattle smuggling’.

She maintained that within two days of Rohit releasing a video ‘exposing his false implication in criminal cases’, policemen in plain clothes entered their house in May 2025 and threatened her with dire consequences. She sought a direction to the DGP to conduct a fair enquiry against the Adilabad district police officials in the matter.

The judge posted the petition after two weeks for next hearing.
