Inflow into Mettur Dam increases to 45,000 cusecs; flood alert sounded

Inflow into Stanley Reservoir in Mettur increased to 45,000 cusecs at 9 p.m. on Saturday (July 26, 2025) and the inflow was completely discharged.

Following this, a flood warning was issued to 11 districts, including Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Ariyalur, Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Cuddalore. 

The dam’s water and storage levels stood at their full capacities of 120 feet and 93.47 tmc ft, respectively. The amount of water discharged from the dam into the River Cauvery for delta irrigation increased to 45,000 cusecs from 25,000 cusecs. For canal irrigation, water discharge continued at 400 cusecs.
