Man suffers burns after acid falls on him

A 22-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh, who was employed in an acid company in Coimbatore, suffered burns after a can of acid fell on him.

The injured has been identified as M. Shathrugan, a native of Kasia in Uttar Pradesh. The police said that Mr. Shathrugan was working at a company on Pollachi Road for the past two-and-a-half months. The incident took place on July 24 when Mr. Shathrugan and his colleague Rakesh carried a can of acid in the factory.

According to the police, the can broke and the corrosive substance fell on him, causing burns on face, right leg, thigh, and abdomen. He was rushed to a private hospital. 

The Sundarapuram police registered a case in connection with the incident.
