An employee of a restaurant near Ukkadam in Coimbatore was found murdered at his residence on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Naveen, 40, who hailed from Natham in Dindigul district.
The police said that Naveen was working in a restaurant run by one Babu at Fathima Nagar at Pullukkadu, near Ukkadam. He was residing with another worker Dhayanithi in a house arranged by the restaurant proprietor in the same area.
According to the police, the restaurant owner went to the house on Monday morning to check on the two employees after they did not turn up for work. He found Naveen dead inside the house with multiple injuries and Dhayanithi was missing. He alerted the Karumbukkadai police, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
The police were on the lookout for Dhayanithi.
