Two kg of suspected ganja seized in Kannur

The Mattannur police on Sunday (July 27, 2025) seized two kilograms of suspected ganja from a resident, believed to be a key supplier in the region. The arrested has been identified as Shihab, 38, a native of Nalankeri.

According to the police, he brought the contraband from Bengaluru to distribute it in Mattannur and Iritty. The arrest and seizure were carried out under the leadership of Mattannur inspector M. Anil, with sub-inspector C.P. Linesh heading the operation team. Further investigation is under way to trace the supply chain and identify others involved in the network.
