The public have been urged to report the operation of illegal homestays, cottages, resorts and lodges to the Nilgiris district administration.
A helpline number – 94427-72709 has been provided by the district administration, stating that the complaints can also be filed via WhatsApp through the same number.
The move comes following an order by the Madras High Court to constitute two committees headed by the District Revenue Officers (DROs) to ascertain the number of illegal homestays, cottages, resorts and lodges in the Nilgiris and Dindigul districts. The district administration stated that the committee, comprising the DRO, Municipal Commissioner, District Tourism Officer and other officials has been constituted to look into the issue.
