The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the ruling BJP exchanged barbs on Wednesday over waterlogging at the Minto bridge underpass, which got inundated on Tuesday morning following overnight rain.

The underpass got waterlogged around 9.40 a.m. and stagnant water was pumped out within 30 minutes, said a senior Public Works Department official.

A traffic police officer said barricades were placed on Swami Vivekananda Marg in the morning to divert traffic.

Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj hit out at the Delhi government over the issue and sought a probe into desilting contracts.

BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that during AAP’s tenure, traffic in central Delhi got disrupted for days on end.

“This year, there hasn’t been one instance of traffic being halted in the area for an entire day,” he said.
