The district police have introduced a new system of handing over the First Information Report (FIR) to complainants at their doorstep.

The system was put in place a few days ago in the district, which has a total of 18 law and order police stations, three All Women Police Stations, a District Crime Branch and a Cyber Crime police station.

The move to personally hand over the FIR to the complainant is to prevent any difficulty in getting the report. The FIRs are being given at the doorstep of the complainant by police personnel of the jurisdictional station. The FIRs registered for different types of crimes are being handed over to the complainant.

So far, 75 FIRs have been handed over in person to the complainants. The move is aimed at instilling public confidence in the police force and creating a close bond between them. The system has received good response from the general public, a press release said.
