Hundreds of protestors, including priests and nuns, took out a march in Angamaly on Thursday (July 31, 2025), demanding justice for two nuns who were incarcerated in Chhattisgarh the other day on charges of illegal conversion and human trafficking. The protestors demanded legal action against the mob which, according to them, violated the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of the nuns—Sister Preethi and Sister Vandana—and those of minority communities in the country. They also called for action against those who allegedly detained and threatened the nuns illegally. Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany addressed the gathering, and Father Lukode Kunnathur presided over the event.
