District Collector T.S. Chetan on Saturday observed that the life and message of theatre icon Bellary Raghava would continue to serve as an evergreen inspiration for generations of youth. The Collector was speaking at the 145th birth anniversary observance of Raghava at the Collectorate here.

After paying floral tributes to a portrait of the theatre legend, Mr. Chetan recalled Raghava’s rich contributions to Telugu theatre and the social reformation movement. Born in Tadipatri of the current Anantapur district in 1880, Raghava was hailed for his iconic roles in plays like HarischandraSavitri and Ramadasu. “Even Mahatma Gandhi was said to have admired his performances,“ the Collector said.
