Elephant Gate Police on Monday arrested two siblings who allegedly cheated gold jewellery that were borrowed from a jeweller in Sowcarpet
According to police, one Dilkush Jain, 50, who runs a jewellery shop in NSC Bose Road, Sowcarpet lodged a complaint alleging that three siblings who were running a jewellery shop approached him on February 3 and borrowed 603g of jewellery on promising that they would return soon.
On February 8, he insisted that they return the jewellery, they told him that they would return in one hour. Subsequently, they switched off their mobile phones and went absconding. Elephant Gate police launched an investigation and arrested two siblings- Mukesh Ranga, 42 and Manish Ranga, 33 who holed up in Rajasthan. A total of 123g of gold jewellery, 87g of silver, ₹2.05 lakh and two mobile phones. Further investigation revealed that the siblings had borrowed the jewellery from several and cheated them in similar manner by going absconded and hiding in Jaipur.
