Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil has said that all ration card holders will get 20 kg of rice for ₹25 a kg through Maveli stores during the upcoming Onam season. He was at Elettil Vattoli in Kozhikode district on Monday to open a newly upgraded Maveli Super Store.

Mr. Anil said that the 25 kg of rice was in addition to the 8 kg of rice already being given. Those with white ration cards would get 15 kg of rice through ration shops too. Blue ration card holders would get an additional 10 kg, and red ration card holders would get an additional 5 kg of rice from there. All ration card holders would get a kg of red chillies for ₹115.50 with subsidy. It had been decided to provide coconut oil for ₹349 a litre. However, the price would be reduced further by the end of the month. Supplyco’s mobile units would travel around various Assembly constituencies from August 25, he added.
