The direct procurement centres for ragi (finger millet) that were in operation since November 2024 in Dharmapuri will be closed by the end of this month. According to the administration, the centres were opened last November to meet the ragi season’s production and harvest of 2024-25.

The centres are operating in Dharmapuri regulated market and at Vannathipatti Agriculture Producers Cooperative in Pennagaram.

In Dharmapuri, as of date, over 777.150 tonnes of ragi has been procured from over 592 farmers. These centres are set to close down with the completion of the season by the end of August. The administration has called upon the farmers to offload the ragi in the centres before the centres are closed.
