The Opposition continued to protest after the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha resumed after a brief adjournment on Friday (August 8, 2025). Officiating in the Chair, Ghanshyam Tiwari, urged the members to maintain order. However, the protests continued over SIR and the House was adjourned till 11 a.m. on August 11, 2025. Lok Sabha was adjourned till 3 p.m.. 

Earlier, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha began with Opposition protests as the logjam continued on the fifteenth day of the proceedings. In the Rajya Sabha, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said that adjournment notices were a “tool to create disorder in the House”. Opposition continued to demand a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar.

The Lok Sabha is set to consider and pass the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya scheduled to move the legislation. He is also likely to move amendments to the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022. Union Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will move the Indian Ports Bill, 2025, which aims to consolidate laws on ports, promote integrated development, improve ease of doing business, and make optimum use of India’s coastline. 

Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Hibi Eden, gave a notice of an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the recent alleged attack on two Catholic priests, a catechist, and two nuns by around 70 Bajrang Dal members in Jaleswar, Odisha.
